Pipe Relining in Fremantle
Pipe relining in Fremantle fixes old sewer and stormwater lines from the inside, so the garden, the driveway and the original floors of an older home stay where they are. We check the line on camera first, then reline it through the access points already there.

Why digging up a Fremantle sewer is harder
Fremantle has some of the oldest housing in the Perth metro area, and the sewer is usually as old as the house. Replacing it the traditional way means a trench along the line. Here, that trench runs into more than lawn.
- Narrow lots and side access. Many older homes sit close to the boundary, with a side passage that has no room for an excavator.
- Limestone and sand. The ground is sand over limestone, which is slow to dig through and quick to slump back into an open trench.
- Mature trees. Established gardens mean roots near the line, and a trench can cut through the roots of a tree you want to keep.
- Heritage streetscapes. Original verandahs, front fences, paving and floors are part of what makes the house. Lifting and relaying them is slow and hard to match.
Relining avoids most of that. The new pipe is cured inside the old one, and the ground above the relined length is not opened.
A Fremantle heritage home, relined without digging
The owner of an older Fremantle property had a sewer line that needed attention, and wanted it fixed without disturbing what sat above it.
- The line was inspected on camera before anything was recommended.
- The liner went in through the existing access points and was cured along the damaged length.
- The garden stayed as it was, the driveway was not broken up, and the original floors were never lifted.
The pipes we find under older Fremantle homes
Older properties were rarely built with PVC. Each older material fails in its own way, so the camera decides the scope.
- Clay pipe opens at its joints, which is where roots get in.
- Cast iron corrodes and scales from the inside.
- Asbestos cement can be relined in place rather than dug out and cut.
With mature trees on so many Fremantle blocks, roots are a common cause of repeat blockages. Our page on tree roots in pipes explains why cutting them out alone does not last. If the line runs under the house, see pipe relining under a slab.
How a Fremantle relining job runs
A CCTV drain inspection goes in from an existing access point, and you get the recording. The line is cleaned, then the liner goes in and cures in place against the old wall. Each step is set out in how pipe relining works, and what moves the price is on our pipe relining cost page.
For the other areas we cover, see our service areas. For houses in general, see residential pipe relining.
